Why do I need a pond liner?
Most soil is unable to hold water, and so a liner is necessary to stop the water escaping. You can build a pond using concrete, but that can be very hard work. Using a plastic liner allows you to build a pond without using concrete.
What sort of pond liners are available?
There are two basic sorts. Preformed liners are made out of rigid plastic in various different shapes. If you are building a pond for the first time and have no firm idea of the shape of pond you want these are ideal. Resistant to U.V. light, frost, stones and roots. Many people find that using a flexible EPDM liner is the best way to go for their pond lining. Commonly referred to as rubber liners, it is very flexible and durable. Rubber liners can come in various pre-cut sizes and can also be custom cut from large rolls. |
